How this agenda is put together

What gets listed

Two layers, and each carries something the other cannot. First, nightlife and live programming from a curated roster of Bilbao venues: the live rooms, the bars that programme, the theatres, the cultural centres and the arena tier, including the rooms in Barakaldo that the city treats as its own.

Second, the public cultural agenda for the Basque Country, which the Basque Government publishes openly through Kulturklik on Open Data Euskadi under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence. That licence asks for three things and gets all three here: the source credited — Kulturklik, Open Data Euskadi, Eusko Jaurlaritza / Gobierno Vasco, CC BY 4.0 — the meaning of the information left unaltered, and the update date stated. That source is refreshed daily, and so is the copy of it behind these pages. It is the layer that carries the free, daytime, neighbourhood and Basque-language programming the nightlife layer never announces.

Both are taken as their operators publish them. Nothing is retyped by hand, nothing is written by us, and no venue pays to appear or to rank higher. If a detail is not in the venue's own announcement, it does not appear on the card.

How often it refreshes

Several times a day, not once overnight. That is the entire point: a session announced in the early evening for that same night has a shelf life of hours, and a page rebuilt once a day cannot carry it. Checking again through the day is also how corrections and reposts get picked up.

What unconfirmed means

Announcements are often ambiguous. Dates get abbreviated, posters omit the year, and a recap of last weekend can look a lot like an announcement for this one. When a detail cannot be established with confidence — most often the date — the event is labelled unconfirmed rather than presented as fact.

Treat an unconfirmed listing as a lead worth checking, not a promise. Where the source publishes a page for it, the card links straight back so you can check it yourself before crossing the city.

How this is paid for

Some ticket links earn a commission. Most of the ones in Bilbao do not: where the source publishes the venue's own box office, that is the link you get, unchanged and unwrapped. Either way it changes nothing about what is listed or the order it appears in — the agenda is ordered by time, and the headline pick by its own score, with no commercial weighting in either. A note in the footer of every page says so, and each commercial link carries rel="sponsored".
